Category AM (moped) – minimum age 16

  • Two-wheeled vehicle with a maximum design speed of 45 km/h (28 mph)
  • three- or four-wheeled vehicle with a maximum design speed over 25 km/h (15.5 mph), up to 50 cc and with a power output not exceeding 4 kW.

Category A1 – minimum age 17

  • motorcycles up to 125 cc, with a power output not exceeding 11 kW
  • tricycles with a power output not exceeding 15 kW.

Category A2 – minimum age 19

  • motorcycles with a power output not exceeding 35 kW.

Category A

  • unrestricted motorcycles with a power output over 35 kW (minimum age 24 under direct access, or 21 under progressive access)
  • tricycles with a power output over 15 kW (minimum age 21).

Portugal Trip 2019

Details of our 2019 European Trip:

Sunday 22nd September
We will be crossing from Portsmouth to Bilbao on Brittany Ferries, Finistere club class cabins (shared 2).

Tuesday 24th September
The ferry arrives at 7:45am and we will be riding to Salamanca (approx 246 miles), We can ride through the Picos de Europa and can take in the walled city of Burgos, arriving at the Parador in Salamanca hotel, where we'll be staying one night including breakfast.

Wednesday 25th September
We'll be riding on the N222 approx 217 miles to Vila Gale Riviera in Porto, (The N222 road from Peso de Regua to Pinhao in Portugal has been awarded the Best Road in the World, cutting through the heart of the stunning Douro Valley and taking in spectacular views of the wine region below). Staying two nights at the Vila Gale Riviera in Porto on a B&B Basis.

Friday 27th September
We set off to return to the Parador in Salamanca, staying one night including breakfast.

Saturday 28th September
We'll be crossing from Santander to Portsmouth at 20:50, sailing on Brittany ferries in a 4 berth cabin with window (2 sharing). arriving back at 19:45 on Sunday 29th September.
